I think music has a great effect on us and can set the mood for many things. There are times that I don't think it has as much to do with the words as it does with the beat. For instance, rock music makes you want to maush or go wild while many times rap music makes you want to make out with your girlfriend/boyfriend! That would mean it doesn't matter whether there are Christian lyrics or not, the beats can effect us negatively. At the same time, beat and music can worship our creator and show the imagination He has put inside each of us.

Lwaysright...hmmm...interesting name. I wonder if there is a hidden message there. Anyway, thanks for the comment. I do indeed find it a little difficult to switch focus from the gifts to the family. I can recall last year how my youngest, for months went on and on about this shark and a killer whale...this year...nothing...from all three of them. I don't really understand it. None of them have presented my wife nor myself with some letter containing three pounds of additional pages on what they want for Christmas this year (as they have in years prior) I am unsure as to if that is a good thing because they have switched their priorities, or if it is a bad thing because they have simply picked up my bad habits in procrastination and we now have no idea what few gifts to purchase. I would like to make them good seeing as how we will not be buying the store and then some, but rather a few they will like and appreciate. If all else fails, their are always Black Forrest Gummy Bears...a holiday staple for Christmas, and just about any occasion.

I love the message of this post. Especially now with the economy the way it is, a lot of us just don't have the money to spend like insane creatures this year. I have decided that my kids are going to get more useful things this year, things thatreally matter, experiential things, moments that we can never get back, instead of the many games and toys and gadgets that they usually request. Granted, there will be a few gifts under the tree, but this year is the beginning of a change in our home as far as that goes. This year it is about family and being together! Because in the end, when there is no money, no exotic goodies, the family is where it is at!

Thanks for the encouragement, Deniz. It's always uplifting to hear from a fan...that is...unless they are popping in to criticize your work...then...it's not so much. It's been so long since I wrote the article, I had to go back and look at what the good Lord allowed me to write. You're right...I was funny. (kidding, normally I am very humble, but even I gotta' take a break every once and a while) I am thrilled to hear that there are indeed others out there passionate about this incredible thing taken for granted, which some call food...I call a little taste of heaven. And I can't wait to hear HIS ideas for making the perfectly grilled steak as well as perfecting the ever impressive cappuccino.

One problem I have with the money saving thing...is...it's hard for me to save any...even when I am saving any. Have you been to the local department stores lately? Where are all the customer service people? When I attempt to pull one aside to ask a question about a product or where to find a certain product...they act like I am interrupting their work...? I am so puzzled with that sort of behavior, for I thought it was the customer who paid their salary. So, the money I save, might very well be spent at a Men's specialty store where they actually care if and how often you spend money there, and I am often greeted with a smile, treated as a king, and walk out broke 'cuz it's too hard to resist their entrancing service...who wouldn't want to spend money at an establishment where both it, and you, are greatly appreciated?

Absolutely GREAT! Love what you said and it's SO TRUE!

You also made me laugh - I like a bit of schizophrenic writing to wake me up in the morning!

Keep up your passion! We're on the same page and yes, I concoct wonderful gourmet dishes at home and you're absolutely right about the annoying noise etc. not to mention (lack of service) in restaurants. Think how much you save in tip money when you cook at home that you could be using to buy some new clothes.

Tip: Best Dim-Sum - PING'S - Mott Street in Chinatown - the Chinese start piling in at 8 AM and by 11 AM every Sat. and Sun. there's a line out the door (everyone in the know eats their fabulous as close to authentic as you get - Chinese - here.

Great story and great message! My daughter recently had strep throat with the rash (in fact, they diagnosed her with scarlet fever). It is highly contagious amongst kids, but usually only if they share a drink, swap spit or any other host of unsanitary things! Hopefully your little one has avoided the bug.

I've been wanting to see my best friend, who I moved away from to take a new job nearly four years ago. We've seen each other exactly twice since then, but continue to talk and trade emails. Families, schedules, work, etc. have kept us from more face time, but those are really just excuses. I'm making it a point for our families to get together this summer and catch up on things.
